The Christopher Nolan-Leonardo DiCaprio sci-fi/thriller “Inception” was the no. 1 movie at the North American box office for the third consecutive weekend. Box-office actuals have been published at Box Office Mojo. Co-starring Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy, and Michael Caine, “Inception” took in $27.48m ($7,753 average at 3,545 sites), only slightly less than studio predictions, and down a relatively low 35.7% (after having lost 245 theaters) from the previous weekend.
At no. 5 was the Zac Efron weepie “Charlie St. Cloud” with $12.38m – about $250k more than estimated. That placed it ahead of another new entry, “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore,” which scored $12.27m – or about $250k less than estimated. [Source]
