Zac Efron: I Won’t Turn On “High School Musical”

Zac Efron just gave us another reason to like him. The “17 Again” cutie refuses to turn his back on his star-maker, “High School Musical.” In fact, he’s even defending the undeniable fluff flicks.

“Here’s the one thing about ‘High School Musical’ that a lot of people forget or don’t realize,” he told Flaunt magazine. “It affected a lot of people, its resonance, culturally, was massive… and at the same time, it was in every sense of it, the luckiest break in the world. The wrong thing to do – and that’s what all these interviews now are trying to get me to say – is to turn on it, to like s**t on it, call it crap. But that’s insane. There are hundreds of people who began doing one thing when they were younger, who go on to develop and refine and shape their vision, as they get older, and other concerns – like fame, or money – take a back seat to other ones.”

The 25-year-old actor, who will next be spotted in “At Any Price,” in theaters in limited release on April 24, also confessed that he refuses to complain about getting attention from fans, paparazzi, or otherwise.

“If I’m talking to my friends, or somebody important who can have some influence on or affect the situation, that’s one thing, but to b***h about attention while getting attention? I’d be doing it to the very people whose job it is to get that information – who are watching me and have control over that information,” he explained. “Therefore, it makes them upset, they read it like it’s hypocritical, and so they spread some bulls**t.”

Still, he admitted that he tries to avoid being tweeted about and photographed, and he isn’t entirely truthful or himself when he gives an interview.

“I wish I could sit here and be completely honest – but I guess that’s an even bigger responsibility – and it’d take a more courageous man,” he said. [Source]

Zac Efron is a man of many talents, according to Pitch Perfect’s Rebel Wilson. The pair, who were first spotted sitting courtside at a Los Angeles Lakers game in November 2012, have been in communication ever since. In the following months, the Australian actress says she’s uncovered a slew of secrets about 25-year-old Efron.

“We have each other’s numbers,” Wilson, 27, tells Buzzfeed. “But he’s busy – he’s about to do a movie called ‘Townies’ with Seth Rogen. And he’s such a cool dude. Something people might not know about him is he’s a really good freestyle rapper. Like, really good. Like, he could go in and battle!”

Wilson – known for her scene-stealing roles in “Bridesmaids,” “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” and “Bachelorette” – adds that it would be friggen sweet to release a rap single with Efron.

“I remember when I met him, we were both guests on The Ellen Show,” she recalls. “I was rapping on that show and he kind of knew I could rap, and then he wanted to show me his rap skills – and he’s, like, really good. Like, I’m not exaggerating. He must practice.” [Source]

“Arabian Nights” Abu Dhabi Shoot Put On Hold Until The End Of 2013

The Dhs400 million shoot for “Arabian Nights” has been delayed until the autumn to avoid the gruelling UAE summer heat. The film, which will feature actors Sir Anthony Hopkins, Zac Efron and WWE wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, will now go ahead in October after its Abu Dhabi producers warned the director that filming in the summer could be disastrous.

“They do not understand what the conditions are like here,” said Akram Sabry, general manager of Sky Events Management, which is producing the film. “I told them that it’s not like in America. Temperatures here reach 45 degrees or more. They would not be able to film.”

Sabry said that pre-production work has now been completed and Hollywood director, Chuck Russell, will be flying into Abu Dhabi in two weeks to oversee the work.

“His crew has already been here and we worked out the paperwork,” said Sabry. Despite delays, final filming approval has been granted by twofour54, the Abu Dhabi media hub that is overseeing the project. The film is based on the classic Arab tale about a princess who wins her freedom by telling fantastic tales of Sinbad, Aladdin and other characters. Filming will take place in the desert and Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace hotel will also be used.

It is hoped the film will be released in late 2014. [Source]

“The Paperboy,” which stars Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack, and Zac Efron, will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on January 22nd, 2013. Make sure that you buy your own copy to show your support for Zac in this way!

A sexually and racially charged film noir from Oscar-nominated director Lee Daniels (“Precious”), “The Paperboy” takes audiences deep into the backwaters of steamy 1960s South Florida, as investigative reporter Ward Jansen (Matthew McConaughey) and his partner Yardley Acheman (David Oyelowo) chase a sensational, career-making story. With the help of Ward’s younger brother Jack (Zac Efron) and sultry death-row groupie Charlotte Bless (Nicole Kidman), the pair tries to prove violent swamp-dweller Hillary Van Wetter (John Cusack) was framed for the murder of a corrupt local sheriff. Based on the provocative bestselling novel by Pete Dexter (Mulholland Falls, Rush), “The Paperboy” peels back a sleepy small town’s decades-old façade of Southern gentility to reveal a quagmire of evil as dark as a Florida bayou.

Zac Efron And Imogen Poots Kiss Sparks Dating Rumours

Posted on 10 January 2013 by under Are We Officially Dating?, News Updates

Some pictures have appeared online that show Hollywood hunk Zac Efron kissing Imogen Poots, which has led to many suggesting that the couple are dating. However, the picture of Zac and Imogen kissing is a lot more innocent than many people seem to realise.

Zac Efron and Imogen Poots were photographed kissing in Gramercy Park (in New York City), which is where the two stars are currently filming their new movie “Are We Officially Dating?”. The kiss between the two is simply a scene being filmed for the movie.

With that said, some people are saying that the chemistry between Efron and Poots is electric and they would not be surprised if the two did start dating off-screen. However, this is just suggestion and rumour and the two are currently just co-stars and friends and nothing more.

As well as Zac Efron and Imogen Poots, “Are We Officially Dating?” also stars Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan and is directed by Tom Gormican. “Are We Officially Dating?” does not yet have an official release date but it is expected to hit the big screen late this year or early in 2014. [Source]
