The much anticipated ‘Me and Orson Welles’, the film partly shot at the Gaiety Theatre and starring Zac Efron, will be screened on the Isle of Man before the end of the year. Two day after it opens here, on Sunday December 6, it will be one of two Manx made films which will feature in the nominations for honours at the British Independent Film Awards in London.

Among those nominations, British actor Christian McKay is up for best newcomer for his performance as Orson Welles. The other film is the thriller ‘The Disappearance of Alice Creed’, which was shot on the Island earlier this year.

Industry Minister David Cretney says, despite the recent difficulties which have been experienced in terms of the number of films produced here, the industry is ‘delighted the quality of the productions remains high, and the Island’s reputation as a reliable film financier and producer is intact’.
