Hollywood star Zac Efron, who signed an endorsement deal with local fashion brand Penshoppe early this year, will visit the Philippines next month.
On Friday morning, Penshoppe said on Twitter that Efron will meet his Filipino fans at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on September 29, 7 p.m. Hours later, Penshoppe sent an official statement regarding the actor’s visit to the Philippines.
“Team Penshoppe is very thankful to Zac for accepting our invitation to visit and meet his fans in the Philippines. Penshoppe Fan Con 2012 starring Zac Efron will be our biggest event to date as we continue to bring Penshoppe to new levels,” said brand director Alex Mendoza.
The company added that fans may get tickets to the event by buying items at selected mall-based outlets from September 1 to 23. Seat reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Efron is set to lead the brand’s “All Stars” campaign, which also includes “Gossip Girl” stars Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick, “The Vampire Diaries” actor Ian Somerhalder, and Thai idol Mario Maurer.
Bench, Penshoppe’s rival brand, has tapped “American Idol” finalist David Archuleta, “Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale, and “The Vampire Diaries” actor Michael Trevino as its endorsers.
Its newest recruit is Joe Jonas of The Jonas Brothers.
Ladies’ apparel brand Kamiseta, meanwhile, earlier got Hollywood actress Katie Holmes as one of its endorsers. [Source]
Nicole Kidman definitely seems to have had fun playing a cougar in “The Paperboy,” admitting that getting down and dirty with Zac Efron didn’t feel weird at all…
The movie, in which Nicole plays a woman dealing with the fact that her husband (John Cusack) is on Death Row, sees her embark on a passionate and controversial relationship with younger man Zac Efron.
Nicole has opened up about the role to V Magazine, explaining that – no matter what her character got up to – she went with it, as it “made sense.”
She even peed on Zac Efron!
The actor’s character is stung by a jellyfish, so Nicole steps up to help in the only way we know how to deal with those watery devils – by urinating on him:
“I didn’t think [it] was that weird, because I was in character… All of that made total sense to me. I just went for it and didn’t overthink it.”
The film, which also stars Matthew McConaughey, was a hit at the Cannes film festival. [Source]

Zac Efron is 24 years old, single, and has every right to live the bachelor lifestyle. So why is he looking for a new house with… his little brother?
Zac was spotted browsing properties for sale with adorable Dylan Efron in Beverly Hills on August 19, and Splash News reports that the boyish pair were looking for houses in the $6.5 million range.
Dylan is only 20 years old, so maybe Zac feels the need to look after his little bro. Or maybe he’s just not ready to live in a huge, pricey mansion all by himself. Then again, Dylan could have just been tagging along while Zac searches for his dream pad. [Source]
The New York Film Festival has added “The Paperboy,” a new film directed by Lee Daniels, to its coming roster, and with it a gala tribute to its star Nicole Kidman, the Film Society of Lincoln Center said on Tuesday.
Ms. Kidman, an Academy Award-winner for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in “The Hours,” appears in “The Paperboy” as a woman who is the fiancée of a death-row inmate (played by John Cusack), and who becomes the romantic fixation of a young man (Zac Efron) while his journalist brother (Matthew McConaughey) investigates the inmate’s case.
In a statement, Richard Peña, the programming director of the film society and chairman of the New York Film Festival’s selection committee, praised Ms. Kidman for her work in films like “To Die For,” “Dogville” and “Eyes Wide Shut,” and for a career in which she “has insisted on finding roles that are complex, bold and demanding.”
Mr. Peña, who is stepping down from his roles at the Film Society of Lincoln Center this year, will also be honored with his own gala tribute at the New York Film Festival. The tribute to Ms. Kidman will be held on Oct. 3 and the tribute to Mr. Peña will take place on Oct. 10. The festival runs from Sept. 28 through Oct. 14. [Source]

The 2012 Toronto International Film Festival has added even more buzzy, star-studded projects to its lineup.
TIFF organizers announced on Tuesday that Kristen Stewart vehicle “On the Road,” Spike Lee’s documentary about Michael Jackson titled “Bad 25,” and Brian De Palma’s erotic thriller “Passion” (which stars Rachel McAdams, who also stars in Terrence Malick’s newest film “To The Wonder,” also playing at the festival) will be screened at the festival.
In addition to three new galas for 2012, as well as Contemporary World Cinema, Future Projections and Wavelengths sections, it was also announced that early Oscar contender Paul Thomas Anderson’s “The Master” and Lee Daniels’ latest project “The Paperboy” (yes, that one with Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron) were now officially part of the special presentations lineup.
Also on the docket is Nick Cassavetes’ drug drama “Yellow” starring Sienna Miller, romantic dramedy “Love is All You Need” with Pierce Brosnan, and the latest from James Franco (“Spring Breakers”), Colin Firth (“Arthur Newman”), and Tommy Lee Jones (“The Emporer”). Paul Andrew Williams’ charmer “Song for Marion,” starring Terrence Stamp and Vanessa Redgrave, has been named the festival’s closing-night film.
This year’s festival lineup includes some of this year’s most anticipated films, among the lot includes Ben Affleck’s “Argo,” “Silver Linings Playbook” with Jennifer Lawrence, and the festival’s kick-off, the action thriller “Looper” starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis.
The 2012 Toronto Film Festival kicks off on September 6 and runs through September 16. See the full list of films scheduled for TIFF here. [Source]
