Hollywood star, Zac Efron, will accept his Dreamy Award onscreen during an evening event in the Serpentine Gallery’s Park Nights series of live events held in the Gallery’s Pavilion, designed by Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei. Artist Ed Fornieles, for his Park Night, hosts The Dreamy Awards to recognise the individuals and organisations helping to shape our current cultural and technological landscape. The Dreamy winners will represent the worlds of music, television, politics, business, technology and film, including Hollywood heart-throbs.

Fornieles’ performance, a special commission for the Serpentine Gallery, will exaggerate the format of a conventional awards ceremony to create a surreal and immersive participatory experience. Following a pre-event briefing with the artist, participants will be encouraged to assume a new identity for the evening and to embody and enact their new identities throughout the ceremony. Chosen characters range from princess to tech legend; from political spin-doctor to superstar DJ.

The Dreamy Awards maintains the artist’s interest in the construction of character. This focus is made manifest in Fornieles’ previous work, including Dorm Daze (2011), a Facebook sitcom he directed based on the contemporary American college moment as it exists on social media. Fornieles believes that the awards ceremony will foster an environment where people feel able and willing to perform a character that acts and communicates differently to them. The interconnectedness of this fictional network will be revealed on the night through suggested interactions and directed plot lines. Celebrity guests will mingle with the artist’s extended collaborative network and members of the public, creating a situation where social equality is forged through the shared experience of adopting a new character. This inclusive atmosphere, and people’s choice of character, will reveal both the artist’s and the audience’s contemporary fantasies. [Source]

“The Lucky One” have been one of this year’s biggest tearjerkers, but the actor admits anything he pulled up as research for his role of a U.S. Marine was more heart-wrenching than the Nicholas Sparks adaptation.

“The first thing we did was go to Camp Pendleton to hang out with some sergeants that were just about to be deployed,” he says, before letting out a sigh. “That was an eye-opener.”

He continues: “I was blown away by these guys.”

Efron, 24, plays Logan Logan Thibault in the film, a soldier in Iraq who finds a photo of a woman which he believes to be his good luck charm throughout his time overseas. When he returns to the States, he discovers he has problems adjusting with home life and seeks to find woman who “helped” him survive his tour of duty.

“The more I thought about it an researched it, I realized that if I ever to have the chance to play a marine and to fill these shoes, that this is probably it,” says Efron he says of his role. [Source]

Hollywood star Zac Efron, who signed an endorsement deal with local fashion brand Penshoppe early this year, will visit the Philippines next month.

On Friday morning, Penshoppe said on Twitter that Efron will meet his Filipino fans at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on September 29, 7 p.m. Hours later, Penshoppe sent an official statement regarding the actor’s visit to the Philippines.

“Team Penshoppe is very thankful to Zac for accepting our invitation to visit and meet his fans in the Philippines. Penshoppe Fan Con 2012 starring Zac Efron will be our biggest event to date as we continue to bring Penshoppe to new levels,” said brand director Alex Mendoza.

The company added that fans may get tickets to the event by buying items at selected mall-based outlets from September 1 to 23. Seat reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Efron is set to lead the brand’s “All Stars” campaign, which also includes “Gossip Girl” stars Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick, “The Vampire Diaries” actor Ian Somerhalder, and Thai idol Mario Maurer.

Bench, Penshoppe’s rival brand, has tapped “American Idol” finalist David Archuleta, “Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale, and “The Vampire Diaries” actor Michael Trevino as its endorsers.

Nicole Kidman definitely seems to have had fun playing a cougar in “The Paperboy,” admitting that getting down and dirty with Zac Efron didn’t feel weird at all…

The movie, in which Nicole plays a woman dealing with the fact that her husband (John Cusack) is on Death Row, sees her embark on a passionate and controversial relationship with younger man Zac Efron.

Nicole has opened up about the role to V Magazine, explaining that – no matter what her character got up to – she went with it, as it “made sense.”

She even peed on Zac Efron!

The actor’s character is stung by a jellyfish, so Nicole steps up to help in the only way we know how to deal with those watery devils – by urinating on him:

“I didn’t think [it] was that weird, because I was in character… All of that made total sense to me. I just went for it and didn’t overthink it.”

The film, which also stars Matthew McConaughey, was a hit at the Cannes film festival. [Source]

Zac Efron is 24 years old, single, and has every right to live the bachelor lifestyle. So why is he looking for a new house with… his little brother?

Zac was spotted browsing properties for sale with adorable Dylan Efron in Beverly Hills on August 19, and Splash News reports that the boyish pair were looking for houses in the $6.5 million range.

Dylan is only 20 years old, so maybe Zac feels the need to look after his little bro. Or maybe he’s just not ready to live in a huge, pricey mansion all by himself. Then again, Dylan could have just been tagging along while Zac searches for his dream pad. [Source]

The New York Film Festival has added “The Paperboy,” a new film directed by Lee Daniels, to its coming roster, and with it a gala tribute to its star Nicole Kidman, the Film Society of Lincoln Center said on Tuesday.

Ms. Kidman, an Academy Award-winner for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in “The Hours,” appears in “The Paperboy” as a woman who is the fiancée of a death-row inmate (played by John Cusack), and who becomes the romantic fixation of a young man (Zac Efron) while his journalist brother (Matthew McConaughey) investigates the inmate’s case.

In a statement, Richard Peña, the programming director of the film society and chairman of the New York Film Festival’s selection committee, praised Ms. Kidman for her work in films like “To Die For,” “Dogville” and “Eyes Wide Shut,” and for a career in which she “has insisted on finding roles that are complex, bold and demanding.”

Mr. Peña, who is stepping down from his roles at the Film Society of Lincoln Center this year, will also be honored with his own gala tribute at the New York Film Festival. The tribute to Ms. Kidman will be held on Oct. 3 and the tribute to Mr. Peña will take place on Oct. 10. The festival runs from Sept. 28 through Oct. 14. [Source]
