In an interview with Movieline Zac Efron talked about how he hasn’t singed on for any action movies yet, saying that he has to find the right one:

“When a superhero movie is about to get made, we’re at different levels of conversation about it. I find that it’s hard to commit to an action movie for the sake of doing action. I love action as much as the next guy, but I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite genre or one that I look for an amazing performance in… I think it would be about finding the right one.”

So when will we get to see Zac acting in an action flick?

“It hasn’t been the right time necessarily, or it’s too early. I don’t feel that I’ve earned it quite yet, to be honest. The people that you see them find for superheroes, you go, ‘Oh yeah, that’s great. That guy is perfect, what a great idea.’ Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern? You go, ‘Finally, he’s going to do something great! We’ve been waiting for it, he’s done all these other things and now I want to see him as that character.’” [Source]

Stars, they’re just like us. They, too, get displaced by younger siblings when they leave the nest. Now that he’s out of his childhood home in California, Zac Efron gets a jolt whenever he visits his parents and younger brother, Dylan.

“My brother’s in my room now. I’m sleeping in the guest room. I never appreciated how cool my room was until you go in there and your brother has manhandled everything and put posters of every soccer team on the wall. I had my Tyra Banks posters, skateboarding, BMX, sports. I go home and I can’t believe it was my room,” Efron tells USA TODAY’s Donna Freydkin.

And it’s not that Efron is getting taller, per se. It just feels that way. “I feel like a giant in my house because every time I go home, everything just shrinks,” he says. [Source]

The 22-year-old actor dished on “Live with Regis and Kelly” about going to see a few shows before his promo schedule took flight. Zac shared, “I went to see Corbin in his show [In The Heights]. Go see it, he’s so amazing. He just really, really nails that part [of Usnavi]. I’m just so proud of him up there on stage.” [Source]

Zac Efron is all grown up. And he knows exactly how to prove it.

“Eventually I’ll be getting to adult-adult (entertainment), for real. But baby steps,” the actor deadpans.

Don’t fret, Efronistas. He’s only kidding. Efron, 22, still remains his wholesome, hunky self. But the actor with the gleaming blue eyes and immaculately spiked hair, who broke through as studly varsity basketball captain Troy Bolton in Disney’s “High School Musical” trilogy, is gradually scoring more mature roles.

On Friday, he headlines the drama “Charlie St. Cloud,” a family flick starring Efron as a sailing prodigy with a scholarship to Stanford whose entire future collapses amid the accidental death of his beloved younger brother. And the film, which deals with debilitating isolation and loss, has nary a musical number, which is one of the many reasons the project resonated with Efron.

“It seemed like someone I could play. There were a lot of scripts I was getting with guys that were too cool, you know? Not only am I not that person, why would I pretend to be that person?” Efron says. “Charlie was a character I felt I could bring something to. Having a little brother, having goals and aspirations, loving sports, all that kind of stuff just made sense to me. For me, a huge part of my life is family, my mom and dad and brother. Zac Efron is in negotiations to star in Warner Bros.’ “The Lucky One,” based on the Nicholas Sparks novel about a Marine searching for a mysterious woman. The film will be produced by Denise Di Novi and Kevin McCormick, who segued last year from Warner production president to a studio deal under the Langley Park banner. Scott Hicks is attached to helm.

Di Novi’s produced three other Sparks adaptations for the studio – “Nights in Rodanthe,” “A Walk to Remember” and “Message in a Bottle.” Di Novi Pictures prexy Alison Green­span is exec producing.

Will Fetters adapted “Lucky One,” which revolves around a Marine who survives three tours in Iraq and attributes his good fortune to a photograph he carried of a woman he has never met. He sets out to meet her when he returns to North Carolina.

Efron signed a producing deal earlier this year with Warner Bros., but isn’t attached as a producer on “The Lucky One.” He next appears in U’s “Charlie St. Cloud,” opening Friday. [Source]
