Zac Efron is more than grateful for his fans everywhere, but sometimes it can be overwhelming. The 22-year-old actor revealed to Extra during promos for his upcoming drama, “Me & Orson Welles,” about the fan groups that would follow him and the other actors to set.

He shared, “The idea of going to a fairly secluded place and to fly away for a couple of weeks… I was so excited to leave all the attention behind. [But] we had a small crowd of young girls and boys hooraying us as we would drive up to set.”

Zac continued, “It’s incredibly endearing and cool that they would do that kind of thing for you. I’m very grateful. To be honest, I think our crew and the rest of the cast got a big kick out of it.”

Following the footsteps of Nick Jonas, another teen celebrity visited Washington D.C. to speak up on an important social issue. According to The Hill, Zac Efron was at the White House on Tuesday, November 10 to lobby for more funding for the arts in public schools. Efron, who is currently promoting his latest film “Me and Orson Welles,” joined costar Claire Danes and the movie’s director Richard Linklater at the White House event where they spoke in behalf of Americans for the Arts. Absent from the event, however, were the nation’s most famous “tweens” Sasha and Malia Obama. The first daughters were in school during Efron’s visit.

Zac Efron had to put on his brave face at Nylon Guy magazine’s recent party for its November issue at XIV in LA – after he was followed around by a group of women in their 40s! The High School Musical star is the mag’s current cover boy.

“One of them ended up following him to the bathroom and just waited for him to come out,” a source told New York Post gossip column Page Six. “As soon as he did, she cornered him and asked to take his picture for her 5-year-old daughter. He was very gracious.”

Efron, 22, has previously revealed how he’s scared of his fans’ moms.

“It’s funny because the kids can be shy but the moms feel like they know you to a degree,” he said in March this year. “They come across as very comfortable in some ways – almost motherly. They want to give me advice and talk to me and ask how I’m doing, if I’m OK, and sometimes they want to go and get a bite to eat. It can be intimidating.” [Source]

Zac Efron’s movie, “17 Again,” has been just nominated for 2010 People’s Choice Awards. “17 Again” scored a nomination in the “Comedy movie” category. Other nominees are: “Bride Wars,” “He’s Just Not That Into You,” “The Hangover,” “The Proposal.” Good luck Zac!
