For several minutes, Lisa Ray didn’t recognize the well-dressed young man who was helping to load piles of impeccably folded and wrapped shirts, pants and sweaters into her car. But she mentioned to his father that he looked just like a movie star. That’s when the young man decided to introduce himself.

“He looks at me and says, “Hey, I’m Zac Efron,” Ray recalled last week. “And I screamed. I’m screaming like I’m a 13-year-old girl.”

Ray is president and CEO of the Children’s Resource Network of the Central Coast – formerly known as Lisa Ray’s Donation Group – a homegrown nonprofit that she founded about two and a half years ago on a shoestring budget. During that time, Ray’s organization has gone from helping one single mom’s children to outfitting more than 3,500 children and teens from Lompoc to Cambria.

Efron, an Arroyo Grande High graduate who got his big break as a singing, dancing basketball player in Disney’s “High School Musical” series, learned about one of the nonprofit’s programs, The Teens Closet, and decided that’s where he wanted to donate his clothing, Ray said.

The program allows disadvantaged and homeless teens or their parents to pick out and try on donated clothing. Efron handed over about 300 items of clothing the day before Thanksgiving, Ray said, and even added his signature to one wall in the Teens Closet, a 12-by-40-foot portable building located on the Arroyo Grande Care Center’s property in Arroyo Grande.

Special tags will be put on Efron’s clothes so that the teens who receive them will know who previously owned them.
“His gift says a lot,” Ray added. “It’s not only the clothing. It’s having something special that other kids wouldn’t have access to. It shows them that people do care.” [Source]

Actor Zac Efron is planning to take his father and brother on a 2,181-mile (3,510-kilometre) trek across the U.S. next year so they can spend quality time together.

The “High School Musical” star is a hiking enthusiast, and he’s keen to walk the Appalachian Trail – which extends from Maine to Georgia – with his dad and younger sibling Dylan.

He tells Britain’s Metro, “I just bought them new backpacks and soon we are going to set off on an epic trip. We won’t go to the jungle because there are too many mosquitoes and we get eaten alive. There must be something in our blood. I want to climb Mount Whitney in California. We will probably hike the Appalachian Trail. Ok – that’s a New Year’s resolution. My life is so crazy I have to get out of L.A. It is just nice to see virgin land, to be somewhere that no one else has been, at least for a couple of weeks.”

And the hiking trip isn’t the only adventure Efron has planned: “I still haven’t gone skydiving, which I meant to do years ago. I want to check out China and India and just go get lost, do some Indiana Jones stuff.” [Source]

Actor Zac Efron has appealed to the producers at “Glee” for a guest role on the show because he’s a huge fan of Lea Michele.

Efron previously showed off his singing chops in both “Hairspray” and “High School Musical,” but after working with “Glee” actress Michele on the set of their upcoming film “New Year’s Eve,” he’s eager for another chance to star alongside the beauty on her hit U.S. TV series – and he’s hoping executives will cast him as a blood thirsty criminal.

He tells celebrity blog PerezHilton.com, “I’m a huge fan of Glee and a huge fan of Lea Michele’s work. It looks so fun. I would love to (be on it). Have they had a serial killer yet? It’d be fun to sing about.”

The popular high school musical show has already featured a number of guest stars during its three-year run – among them Gwyneth Paltrow, Neil Patrick Harris, John Stamos and Kristin Chenoweth. It’s two of Hollywood’s hottest hunks – and a bike. “High School Musical” star Zac Efron told Jimmy Fallon Wednesday he was talking about motorcycles with perennial A-lister Tom Cruise at a party, when Cruise asked him, “Hey man, do you ride?”

Cruise then asked Efron, “Why don’t you come over tomorrow and I’ll teach you how to ride?”

Of course, Efron accepted the once-in-a-lifetime invitation.

Cruise “sat there for two hours and taught me how to ride a motorcycle,” Efron said, noting he was a mediocre rider, but the experience was one he’ll always cherish. [Source]

Teen-idol Zac Efron has admitted he’s a “kissing machine” after locking lips with both Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman in recent films. While most actors remain tight-lipped over their romantic scenes, Zac is happy to reveal how much he enjoys them.

He told The Metro that he had always had a crush on Michelle Pfeiffer and couldn’t wait until their romantic scenes in new film “New Year’s Eve.”

He said: “I’ve always wanted to kiss her and I checked it off my bucket list. It’s everything you’ve dreamed of. It was amazing and one of the best parts of the movie for me.”

Zac, who starred in “Hairspray” with Michelle certainly took a shine to his co-star and jumped at the chance to work with her again, adding: “I really liked her and hoped I’d have the chance to work with her again.Then this film magically came around and I told her: ‘If you’re in, I’m 100 per cent in. I don’t care who else is in the movie’.”

However, despite enjoying his role as a leading-man, Zac insists he doesn’t think of himself as a ‘heartthrob’. He said: “It is weird because that is not how I feel. I honestly don’t feel like I deserve any of the attention. It’s a fluke.”

There is no stopping the “High-School Musical” star who also gets up-close with Nicole Kidman in “Paperboy” after he described the experience as great. [Source]

He may be famous for being Disney’s favourite it boy – but Zac Efron has come a long way since his “High School Musical” days. Yep, as well as ditching his boyish side-swept locks, growing some stubble and bulking up his biceps, the screen pin-up has swapped serenading teen sweetheart Vanessa Hudgens for smooching one of the hottest ladies in Hollywood.

Starring in this year’s most anticipated rom-com “New Year’s Eve,” the “17 Again” cutie has revealed all about getting up close and personal with legendary actress Michelle Pfeiffer.

“I love her,” he gushed to Access Hollywood, adding that his heart “exploded” when the BAFTA Award winner called him up and asked him to take part in the flick.

“I was like, ‘I’m in! I’m doing it!’ She made my year.”

But starring as the 53-year-old’s on-screen toy-boy didn’t go quite as well as he’d hoped.

“The way I pictured it, it was going to be perfect, very romantic, very leading man,” added Zac. “Then of course, as we went to film it, right when I went to dip her, a huge piece of confetti went straight into my mouth. I didn’t want to finish the kiss like that, so I spit and went for it. That’s actually in the movie.”

But while it wasn’t the 24-year-old’s smoothest moment – he still managed to leave a pretty good impression on the ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ beauty.
