Amanda Crew shows off her muscles with gal pal Amber Borycki as they attend the Muscle Milk Light Women’s Fitness Retreat in Beverly Hills late last week. The 24-year-old “Charlie St. Cloud” actress told JJJ that she actually had butterflies the first couple times she had to kiss costar Zac Efron. But don’t fret – Amanda also told us that after a couple of days, it was just another day at the office. [Source]
We’ve seen Zac Efron as teen basketball star Troy Bolton, and as Matthew Perry’s younger self in “17 Again,” but as a potentially delusional young man with visions of his dead brother? That’s something not all of us saw coming. Regardless, Zac plays troubled young man Charlie in “Charlie St. Cloud,” hitting theaters on July 30.
“I was very excited to do this role because it’s something different – it’s a lot more adventurous and real,” Zac said in a new featurette, adding that his character is “ready to take on life” when things takes an “unexpected turn” and his little brother dies in a car accident.
The ability to see the ghost of little brother, Zac goes on to explain, “is a huge gift, but at the same time, it’s very much a curse because he’s got this weight that he carries.”
Don’t worry, though, this isn’t just a “Sixth Sense” for the teen set. “It’s got everything in it,” the actor said. “There are supernatural elements; it’s a romance. I love the message.” The new footage falls in line with Zac’s analysis, but what we suspect will have viewers buzzing is the chemistry between Zac and his “sailor girl” love interest, played by Amanda Crew. Miley Cyrus has joked that Zac Efron will always have a “special place” in her heart. The 17-year-old made the comment after she was asked by Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush whether young female stars had a harder time growing up in the public eye than male stars such as Efron.
“Girls are immediately going to say, ‘Oh, she’s trying to sell sex’. Well, I love Zac Efron, but what’s he selling? He’s gorgeous, he’s hot, I don’t go see his movie because I’m like, ‘He’s such a fantastic actor’. He’s a great actor, but he’s hot,” she said.
When asked whether boyfriend Liam Hemsworth knew about her crush on Efron, she replied: “Liam’s hot too, but Zac Efron has a special place in my heart. I am obsessed with Zac Efron. If it wouldn’t be creepy because he’s a friend, I would have posters on my wall.” [Source]
Last April, Zac Efron seemed really into the idea of being involved with “Hairspray 2.” But it seems now those dreams of seeing Zac and his famous wink in a sequel are dead in the water. Zac confirmed to MTV News at the MTV Movie Awards over the weekend, that “Hairspray 2″ is no longer happening.
“You know I hadn’t really heard it was happening, if it ever was happening,” he shared. “I’m pretty sure that’s the way it was supposed to be.”
Well, there had been some talk of scripts and story ideas last year, but it seems it was nothing more than talk, even if Zac shared last spring that he had seen a little bit of what the flick might be about, with one rumored plot revolving around his character, Link Larkin, taking acid.
“I think I’ve heard a rough outline, and it sounds hilarious. It sounds like it’s going to be awesome,” he said last year. “That could be a deep conversation. I’ve had so many deep conversations with my own zits. They are some of the smartest people I know.”
The fact that “Hairspray 2″ is no longer in the works gives Zac a little bit more time to tackle and promote other projects, including his next release, “Charlie St. Cloud,” out later this summer. “I’m not doing anything to drastically try and change up my image,” he added about his future roles. “But I do need to keep things interesting for myself. And grow up.” [Source]

Zac Efron shares a moment with Amanda Crew in one of two new TV spots for their upcoming flick, “Charlie St. Cloud.” The flick follows a young man (Efron) who survives an accident that lets him see the world in a unique way. In this emotionally charged story, he begins a romantic journey in which he embraces the dark realities of the past while discovering the transformative power of love. [Source]
